Painting

Threshold
New York, April 2025
Canvas, acrylic paint, bleach, isopropyl alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, clear sealant, oil pastel, dried flowers
12ft x 20ft each
I am still learning about painting. The inspiration for these works came from a place I visited in a dream. I first created a foundation on the raw canvas by bleaching it, then I replicated the image by soaking paint into the canvas horizontally. I then experimented further with the bleach and different chemical reactions in the sister piece. Together the pieces are a meditation on thresholds, oscillating in and out of consciousness.

New York, November 2023
Acrylic paint on canvas
24in x 18in x 2in
In the fall of 2023 I began investigating painting as a way to understand color and challenge myself to make work within two-dimensional parameters. This work was made through a process inspired by Helen Frankenthaler of soaking and layering paint into raw canvas. It is inspired by a vivid dream that I had about water, orcas, and being welcomed into another world.
