Horizon

February 2025

Canvas, blue paint

6in x 6in

A special piece that is a part of my mourning dove series. These pieces are made by removing threads from a raw piece of canvas, end by end. It is a slow and meditative process. This piece was the first time I placed a piece of thread back into the canvas. In order to see the difference, I made the thread blue. It is a small, personal horizon.

Concrete, canvas, light

16in x 16in x 3in

Slowly, the canvas is manipulated by removing individual ends of string from the cloth. Then it is suspended and cast into a concrete frame. Intended series of 12, representing each month of the year after losing a loved one. This work is about meditating on how time alters our memory and the moments we hold dear.

Concrete, canvas

6in x 6in x 2in

The first test piece in an anticipated series of canvas and concrete sculptures. Slowly, the canvas is manipulated by cutting individual ends of string on the twill of the cloth to create a small line. The canvas was then suspended and cast into a concrete frame. This work is about meditating on how time alters our memory and the moments we hold dear. This work was shown and sold at the Little Sculpture Show at the International Sculpture Conference in Portland, OR.
